At Schrom & Shaffer, we seek to promote the welfare of the community. We support the following charities with our time, prayers, energy and money.
Animal Rights
Arlene Romano has donated money and volunteered significant time to promote these animal rescue organizations. On weekends she often acts as a relay for the Rescue Railroad from Delaware to New Jersey.
Child Guidence Resource Center
Richard Stanko is the father of an autistic son. He and his wife Mary serve on the board of directors for the Child Guidance Resource Center in Haverford, Pennsylvania. The center is a non-profit community based behavioral healthcare organization. The CGRC provides quality care and educational services that best meet the needs of children, adolescents and families with mental health, developmental disability, and residential needs in the Tri-State area
Operation Smile
This summer Garrett Wright, a local Media resident, will be biking his way across America this summer. Garrett's efforts are in support of Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a non-profit organization that helps children in developing nations who suffer from cleft lips and palates. Garrett will be operating a hand powered bicycle to raise awareness of and support for Operation Smile's efforts. Garrett is making these great strides despite having cerebral palsy. At Schrom & Shaffer, we are giving moral and financial support to Garrett's efforts.
The American Heart Association
Gerard Schrom's mother, Katherine O'Kaffe passed away from a stroke. During her lifetime, she was a strong supporter of the Heart Assocation. To this day, Gerard Schrom continues his mother's efforts in aiding the Heart Society.
The American Red Cross
Steve Zane and Richard Stanko regularly donate blood to the Red Cross. Richard is on the Red Cross' emergency donor list during times of short blood supply.
The Autism Society of America
Richard Stanko and Kelly Kahlert are the parents of Autistic children and both actively support efforts to help and mainstream autistic children in schools.
UN Water for Life
While on a trip to Mexico, Gerard Schrom almost died from drinking tainted water. Thereafter, he has become a strong advocate promoting and donating to the UN Water for Life program.
